Double Bluff is one of South Whidbey’s most recognizable beach outings: a west-side waterfront with long walking potential, family facilities, and a designated off-leash area beyond the developed park.
Facilities and access
Island County planning documents identify beach access, parking, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, benches, drinking water, viewpoints, clamming, a pet-waste station, and an off-leash area. Current operations and seasonal maintenance can differ from a planning document, so use posted signs on arrival.
Dog boundaries
The off-leash designation does not begin everywhere. FETCH guidance describes keeping dogs leashed until inside the posted off-leash boundary. Maintain voice control, clean up waste, and leash around wildlife, crowded access points, or whenever signs require it.
Tide and bluff safety
Check the tide before a long walk and keep track of the return route as water rises. Stay away from unstable bluff faces, do not climb driftwood in rough conditions, and remember that Puget Sound water remains cold even on warm days.
Parking reality
The lot can fill on warm weekends and holidays. Arrive with a nearby alternative rather than parking illegally or blocking neighborhood access.
