Two prominent stays are pet-free

Boatyard Inn states that it is pet-free and applies a substantial cleaning surcharge for violations. Comforts of Whidbey’s B&B is also strictly pet-free. Do not rely on an old directory or third-party filter for either property.

Taking a pet on the ferry

Washington State Ferries updated its pet rules in 2026. Leashed pets are allowed in most passenger areas, but not in food-service areas, on seats or tables, or in the indoor cabin section at the galley end. Other pets must remain in a crate or carrier. Service animals retain access required by law.

• Are there weight, breed, or number limits?
• May a pet be left alone in the room or house?
• Is the yard actually fenced on all sides, and how high is the fence?
• Are pets allowed on furniture or beds?
• Does “beach access” involve a steep stairway, sharp rock, or a tide-dependent route?

Bring a leash, towels, bedding, bowls, and waste bags even when a listing says supplies are provided. For off-leash time, consult current park signs and county rules rather than assuming every beach follows the same policy.
